04/30/2020 COVID-19 WOD

Adding in some new movements for the week cap! We’ve got a main focus on the lower half today through targeting all major muscle sets in the lower half.

In softball, our lower half is used in just about all aspects of the game. When we throw, when we hit, when we run bases, etc. you are utilizing your legs in some capacity. Here we will be mixing in powerful explosive movements with core strength movements to build around those fast twitch muscles.

What you’ll need for today’s workout:

  • Gym shoes

  • Water

  • Today is bodyweight ONLY! Feel free to bring a 5lb weight for our circuit at the end.

How to read my programs:

  1. Start with the warm up! All movements can be found on my Youtube channel.

  2. Superset #1 is next! You’ll go do the three exercises in a row and following the order on the program until you have completed all rounds. Quick Hydration!

  3. Complete Superset #2 as you completed the first superset - completing three rounds of rotating through all the movements. Quick Hydration!

  4. AMRAP. You know the drill here - 7 minutes to knock out as many rounds as possible of all the exercises below and their according repetitions.

  5. Extras are primarily for core stability and overall mobility. These exercises help with injury prevention and overall performance when it comes to being a well rounded, throwing sport athlete.

You will find most value in attending live sessions of these workouts so you can follow along to know how to pace yourself. While knocking these out as fast as possible seems ideal, we all need proper rest time. Please continue to join in via Zoom, even if you don’t want to be seen on camera. This platform is meant to be comfortable and accessible to all.

Helping to spread the word to other organizations, parents, athletes, etc is what will help most in these tough times.
